INHABITED CRATER

One Step Closer To The Moon | Competition | Moonception 2019

A Unique Moon Experience.

This project aims to create a unique environment for both science and tourism by inhabiting a crater on the Moon. Craters on the Moon could be imagined to be shelter for the mankind to survive the extreme conditions. The canopy encloses the crater completely and liquid sealant is sprayed on the surface of the Moon. This eliminates the need for spacesuit and one would be able to “walk” on the Moon barefoot.

Observe Beyond.

An observatory is installed in the center of the base. Moon has no atmosphere. There is no light or air pollution and this allows for the clearest view of neighboring stars and beyond. To avoid damage from Moon dust, the dome of the observatory is designed inverted in such a way that the telescope is mounted under the inverted dome.
